The Man Behind the Mission
40 Years of Command
John Alston didn't learn leadership in a classroom. He spent 31 years with the Jersey City Fire Department - rising from Heavy Rescue to Deputy Chief of Special Operations, Chief of Training, and Chief of Staff. He served nine years as Fire Chief of the New Haven Fire Department and trained hundreds of fire officers as a Master Instructor for the IAFF.
On September 11, 2001, he responded to the World Trade Center as a front-line Heavy Rescue Technician. That experience shaped everything. Today, through Fire Officer Trust, he coaches, trains, and equips executives, corporate teams, and organizations across every sector. His core belief: focus on the people before the problem.
